The moment my blood entered those vials I swore off gluten. I knew wheat was causing my digestive system problems. I began to realize that it was easier to purchase gluten free (GF) products so I went gluten free.
Why is this such a big deal, you ask? I have been in pain every day for the past, oh I don't know how many years. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2004, a diagnosis that was changed to Fibromyalgia in 2005. I have had severe migraines since the 1970s and IBS since the 1980s, though not formally diagnosed until the early 2000s. I have been on literally over 100 different medications for pain and other symptoms, the side effects of which have been almost as uncomfortable as the original symptoms.
In the 10 days I've been gluten free I have been able to reduce or eliminate over 1/2 of my medications (I am too cautious at the moment to name or enumerate them, perhaps in the future). I feel better than I have in years. When my period started yesterday for the first time in more than 20 years it did not announce itself with a migraine.
Today, Gentle Readers, I am in a quandary. I can figure out gluten free eating. However, gluten free lipstick is a dilemma. My local Shoppers' Drug Mart does not carry the items I was looking for (Benefit, specifically). So, ladies (and gents, I suppose), what do YOU use?
